Position Summary Under the supervision of the division director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.
POSTING DATE: APRIL 18, 2024 SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D-1 IC for 9 months (range: $41,282 to $66,891).
Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IC for 3 months $12,746 - $20,693).
Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: JUNE 1, 2024 This position will be based initially at the Wallace campus in Dothan.
More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Instruction.
Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
Demonstrates a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.
Displays an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline.
Connects their subject matter with related fields.
Teaches a course load appropriate to their field or discipline.
Plans and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.

Modifies, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Student Learning.
Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
Establishes meaningful learning student learning outcomes for courses/programs.
Develops and explains methods that fairly measure student progress toward student learning outcomes.
Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
Returns student assignments and tests in a timely manner.
Maintains accurate records of student progress and submits final grade rosters each semester according to established deadlines.
Demonstrates sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
Maintain action plans based on data to support constant and never-ending improvement in the instructional process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Support of College Policies and Procedures.
Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC.
Teaches classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment as needed.
Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and to students for advisement and consultation.
Serves as faculty advisor within the current College advisement system.
Prepares, distributes, and submits syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.
Maintains confidentiality of student information.
Substitutes for other instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence.
Exercises stewardship of College facilities and materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities.
Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC.
Serves on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned.
Participates in meeting and events required by the college, division, and program administrators.
Responds in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.
Supports both part-time and full-time colleagues.
Contributes to program and division curriculum development processes.
Participates in graduation ceremonies.
Provides attendance data as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Contribution to Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs.
Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
Maintains familiarity with College goals, mission and long-range plans.
Contributes to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels.
Participates in professional activities that contribute to the educational goals of the College and its constituents.
Performs professional responsibilities in accordance with pertinent goals, missions, and plans of the College, division, and program.
Participates in the marketing, recruitment and retention of students, faculty and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Professional Development.
Continue as competent instructor in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professional competencies.
Updates knowledge and skills in subject matter field and instructional abilities.
Remains current in teaching discipline by one or more of the following methods: a.
attending workshops, continuing education programs, practicums, and academic courses; b.
engaging in individual self-study; c.
actively participating in professional organizations.
Sets professional goals for each rating period.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: College Expectations.
Dependability, attendance, punctuality, and a commitment to do the job right are essential at all times.
Reports to work on time, at appropriate workstation or department during all departmental/position scheduled work days and during all departmental/position scheduled work hours.
Understands that failure to report for work and/or reporting late without prior approval are unacceptable practices and will result in disciplinary action.
Performs a productive full day's work.
Ensures that service to students and the general public is top priority.
Demonstrates a considerate, friendly, respectful and constructive attitude toward fellow employees and students.

Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college is required.
STwenty seven (27) semester hours of course work in industrial maintenance/ technology or the equivalent of twenty seven (27) semester hours of coursework in industrial maintenance /technology equivalent to a community or technical college program in industrial maintenance/ technology is required.
Three (3) years of successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the industrial maintenance field is required.
NOTE: If selected, competency demonstrated through successful completion of an approved occupational examination (e.
g.
, NOCTI) within the first year of employment is required.
Postsecondary teaching experience, including the use of a learning management systems (Blackboard or Canvas) is preferred.
Experience incorporating multi-media instructional techniques into curricula, including instructional technology for web-based teaching and course management (Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard/Canvas) is preferred.
Experience inspiring and facilitating learning with diverse student populations is preferred.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff.
This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration.
From all the applications received, an advisory committee will select the applicants to be interviewed.
